This Week’s Episode (6.22.15): Lonnie Porter

This week’s guest is Lonnie Porter, former Head Basketball Coach of Regis University and founder of the Porter-Billups Leadership Academy. Lonnie is a local legend having guided the Regis Rangers to 538 career victories over a 38 year career, and founding the Porter-Billups Leadership Academy in 1996 which provides academic and leadership training to at-risk inner city students from Denver. Since its first graduating class in 2002, 97% of students graduated from high school on time, and 92% of Academy graduates have gone on to college.

Lonnie talks with Jon about his history and philosophy in basketball, crossing paths with all-time great Oscar Robertson, Lonnie’s coaching mentors, the fleeting glory of a legacy, and, most importantly, the Porter-Billups Leadership Academy. It’s a great chat with an incredible man, and it all happens on Wednesday, June 24. You can check it out here at Jon of All Trades, download it on iTunes, or subscribe on Stitcher.
