John Dicker Geeks Who Drink founder and Quizmaster-in-Chief is the final guest of #GeekMonth here at the Jon of All Trades Podcast, dedicated to showcasing Geeks Who Drink on the road to Geek Bowl IX.
John goes in-depth about his peculiar inspiration – it has to do with an obscure play about out-of-work Irishmen – and how he built this company from one little quiz in Denver’s LoDo neighborhood to having quizzes in 35 states. Whereas the first 3 shows in #GeekMonth focused almost exclusively on the quiz itself, this week we peek behind the curtain and check out how this juggernaut keeps on rolling. We have come full circle in #GeekMonth, and it’s only apropos that we start back at the beginning. It’s rare to find a business owner more dedicated to optimizing the experience of his customers than John Dicker. And this episode puts that passion on full display. It’s an energizing chat, and I feel fortunate to have had the chance to sit down with Dicker for an hour during what is undoubtedly the craziest time of year for him.
If you haven’t been to a Geek Bowl, hie thee to Albuquerque on February 7. Tickets are still available, and I promise it’ll be worth your while. A huge thank you to Geeks Who Drink for partnering with me all month.
This is the fourth and final of four episodes highlighting Geeks Who Drink Pub Quizzes. All throughout January, on the road to Geek Bowl IX, I’m highlighting a different aspect of this company. Why? I love geeking out, and I love drinking. I’ve played in 3 Geek Bowls, and if you haven’t gone before, you should go this year. For more information about Geek Bowl IX or to purchase tickets, click here. Why should you go? Take it from the company itself: ” Geek Bowl is a dork bacchanal. Dress to the nines, drink up and enjoy, because we’ll give you one hell of a show.” And even if you don’t go, here’s what’s coming the rest of the month:
January 7: The Slumpbusters
January 14: Quizmaster Johnny
January 28: The Geeks Who Drink founder
