Ep. 151: Megan Ranegar – Yelp Denver Community Manager

[toggle title=””]…[/toggle]…

Megan Ranegar is the Community Manager forĀ  Yelp Denver. Yelp is one of those weird companies that you use all the time, but whose employees are rarely seen to the average consumer. They have something like 5,000 employees worldwide, but I’m willing to bet before today, most of you had never interacted with a one of them.

And that’s one of the reasons I’m so excited to bring this episode to you. I didn’t actually find Megan. A member of the Yelp communications team reached out to me and offered me an interview with Megan, which I jumped at. Because, I mean, who doesn’t use Yelp? Getting a chance to understand a little bit more about a platform we all use from someone on the ground? Hell yeah.

So, on this week’s show, we discuss her career path after college through the world of marketing – Whole Foods, Denver Museum of Nature & Science, and now Yelp – and what she does as a community manager. We also dig into some of the commonly asked questions about Yelp. How do you deal with professional trolls? How can a business owner better manage its own Yelp reviews? What are some of the interesting workarounds on Yelp people have come up with? I’ve got my own little hack for finding a good restaurant, but you’ll just have to listen to the show to hear it.

It’s a terrifically insightful episode that you’ll enjoy a great deal. Be sure to follow Yelp Denver on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. If you’re interested in Events, you can check those out here. And if you know someone who fits the profile, you can nominate them for Elite Squad here.
